I enjoy living in simple accommodations. I have been living in a cabin at the Sierra Friends Center for nearly 12 months. Our cabins are small, sleeping between 2 and 5 people. During the winter months we warm our cabins via wood fire stoves.
I will enjoy living in the mountains near Ben Lomond. I have been to Ben Lomond, for the spring quarterly, and was taken aback by the majesty and beauty I saw while hiking on the Quaker Center property. I am excited to experience, again, the serenity and sense of wonder that I felt among the redwoods, listening to the wind as it rustles the canopy and the birds chattering throughout the forest.
I have found sanctuary in nature at times in the past. I particularly like taking my guitar into the woods and playing along with the other sounds and songs I hear. I also like to sit in quiet reflection, or walk quietly, among animals and natural forms such as streams, mountains, lakes, ponds, and rivers.
The only difficulty that I foresee would relate to accessing town. Here at the Sierra Friends Center, I very infrequently venture to town. I have been able to work up the stamina to bike to the nearest town, which involves a decent uphill stretch. I believe that I will work up to good enough condition to enjoy the ride from and returning to Ben Lomond.
